GDD Series Metallurgical Rail Weighing System
The GDD Series is a heavy-duty Metallurgical Rail Weighing System engineered specifically for the extreme environments of steel mills and coking plants. It provides highly reliable static whole-vehicle weighing for three critical applications: hot metal ladle cars (torpedo cars) in steelmaking, coal charging cars, and coke dry quenching (CDQ) cars in coking operations. It delivers precise material balance, commercial settlement, and process control under the most demanding industrial conditions.
Flexible Rail Design: Cut-Rail or Continuous-Rail
To accommodate different site conditions and civil engineering requirements, the GDD Series offers two structural configurations, both requiring no foundation pit:
-
Continuous-Rail (Uninterrupted Track) Design: Load cells are installed directly onto the existing continuous rail. This eliminates rail joints, avoids track climbing and displacement risks, and ensures smoother, safer passage for heavy locomotives.
-
Cut-Rail (Broken Rail) Design: A cost-effective configuration where a separate scale body is inserted into the track, ideal for standard installation layouts.
The pitless architecture prevents the accumulation of spillage, slag, water, and debris, guaranteeing minimal maintenance and long-term stability.
High-Accuracy Static Measurement
The system is dedicated to static weighing. Once the locomotive and the specific car (hot metal, coal, or coke) come to a complete stop on the weighing zone, the system captures the exact weight. This eliminates vibration and motion errors, achieving a high accuracy of ≤±0.3%FS or ≤±0.5%FS.
Built for Extreme Metallurgical and Coking Environments
Whether deployed beneath blast furnace tapholes, coke oven batteries, or CDQ chambers, the GDD scale faces continuous radiant heat, heavy dust, and corrosive gases. The load cells and junction boxes are heavily protected with high-temperature cables and IP68 sealing, ensuring continuous operation where conventional scales would fail.
