GMC Series Metallurgical Rail Scale

GMC Series Metallurgical Rail Weighing System for hot metal ladle cars, coal charging cars, and CDQ cars. Features pure insert-type sensors, continuous rail, and pitless design. High static accuracy.

GMC Series Metallurgical Rail Weighing System (Pure Insert-Type)

The GMC Series is a specialized Metallurgical Rail Weighing System designed to deliver highly reliable static weighing for critical heavy-duty applications in steel mills and coking plants. It is widely deployed for hot metal ladle cars (torpedo cars), coal charging cars, and coke dry quenching (CDQ) cars. By providing accurate static weight data, the system ensures precise material balance, process control, and safe operations in extreme industrial environments.

Pure Insert-Type Sensor Technology
The defining feature of the GMC Series is its pure insert-type load cell architecture. Instead of relying on complex mechanical platforms, the sensors are directly inserted into precision-machined holes in the rail web. When the heavy locomotive or car passes over the weighing zone, the sensor detects the micro-deformation of the rail caused by the load. This direct, structural integration guarantees high sensitivity, eliminates mechanical failure points, and ensures long-term stability under massive static loads.

Continuous Rail & Pitless Design
The GMC Series features a true continuous-rail (uninterrupted track) and pitless design.

  • Continuous Rail: There is no need to cut or break the existing track. The system eliminates rail joints, completely avoiding track climbing and lateral displacement risks. This provides a safer and smoother passage for the ladle, charging, or CDQ cars.

  • Pitless Installation: No foundation pit is required, which significantly reduces civil engineering costs and construction time. Furthermore, the pitless design prevents the accumulation of spillage, slag, water, and debris—making daily inspection virtually maintenance-free.

Built for Extreme Metallurgical Environments
Operating beneath blast furnace tapholes, coke oven batteries, or CDQ chambers means facing intense radiant heat, heavy dust, corrosive gases, and iron scale. The GMC sensors and cables are highly protected with specialized thermal isolation and IP68 sealing. The system is specifically engineered to maintain precise measurement accuracy where conventional scales would easily fail.
